Grow your online sales on Amazon & benefit from FBA this holiday season

December, December … the very busy holiday season is coming. Since Amazon is expecting record-setting sales, you may wonder how to keep up with the demand. If you sell internationally on Amazon, you can use the Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) service. These will help you reach millions of Amazon Prime members worldwide. And set new records for your own sales figures.

Use FBA to boost your sales on Amazon

When it comes to delivery costs, Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) can help you stay competitive when selling on Amazon. FBA is cost-effective, simple and helps sellers delegate a lot, leaving them with more time to focus on their business expansion. What’s more, there’s no need to worry about the costs of foreign returns and free one-day delivery can be offered to Amazon Prime customers.

Additionally, seller ratings on Amazon will improve: within FBA, delivery-related negative feedback will be removed. Finally, thanks to FBA chances of getting into the BuyBox are better even if a given item is not the best price.

However, whereas FBA is a great solution boosting cross border trading, it’s not for everyone. Some sellers offer goods with many variations: take t-shirt sellers, for example, with thousands of combinations of size and colour for every design).

Such sellers are very unlikely to benefit from FBA at a reasonable cost. Still, even if you, as a seller, fulfill by yourself, you need to make sure that you offer the best possible customer service.

According to Jennifer McMillan, Founder of First State Trade …

In 2016, Fulfillment by Amazon has helped us reach more Prime members, increasing our sales by more than 100 percent.

How about Amazon Prime? It’s a membership programme for buyers that offers free 2-day shipping and discounted 1-day shipping rates. Only FBA items are eligible for free delivery in this programme.

Interestingly, Amazon Prime is not only about shipping and delivery, but also provides Amazon Video: free streaming of selected TV shows and films and a few extra services, such as Prime Music and Prime Photos.

Do you want to sell toys on Amazon at Christmas…

… and you don’t use FBA? Then you must meet a few requirements to be able to trade toys during the holiday season. For example, this year sellers had to sell their first product before 18 September 2016 and have 25 orders, not necessarily from the Toys category, placed with them between 1 September and 31 October 2016.

This doesn’t apply to sellers using FBA. Otherwise, Amazon wants to make sure that merchants are reliable and have established some sales history on the platform.

FBA & Cross Border Trade

One of the detractors to cross border trading are international shipping costs, too high for many consumers. Amazon has helped in this regard, lowering its European Fulfilment Network fees for Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA).

Thanks to FBA, the visibility and promotion of the product / seller is much better, which generally translates into higher sales. Over 80% of Amazon sellers using FBA say that the programme has increased their sales volume.

At Webinterpret we have noticed the advantages of FBA and how it helps international sellers capitalise on the cross border trade potential. Stats show that items with FBA listed by Webinterpret are up to 4 times more likely to sell on international sites than non-FBA Webinterpret items.

Take the international sales performance of our sellers: 3% of all items are fulfilled by Amazon and these 3% generate 25% of the total CBT revenue. For our sellers on paid packages we offer unlimited translisting of their FBA items, boosting CBT sales.

This takes place thanks to Amazon’s efficient and fast delivery network. It’s also worth mentioning that our paying customers don’t need to worry about any restrictions, compared to items fulfilled by the merchant.

To conclude

FBA is a service that revolutionises global logistics by empowering even small sellers thanks to the huge cost efficiency of Amazon fulfilment centres.

Your international shipping rates can make or break your sales deal so make sure your shipping solutions work to your advantage. Especially considering that holidays, Christmas in particular, are hot seasons…

So when it comes to demand during the holiday season, you need to handle shipping in the most efficient and cost-effective way. Hence, consider using FBA and enjoy very merry sales figures!
